Covington Catholic junior quarterback Blake Bir is one of the top signal callers in a loaded Class of 2013 statewide.
And earlier this month, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Bir attended the U.S. Army All-American Combine in San Antonio and said he was “pretty sharp throwing the ball.”
Bir ran a 4.9 40-yard dash on a laser timer during the event.
As far as colleges, Bir said Duke, Indiana and Northwestern are schools showing the most interest at this point. He made an unofficial visit to Northwestern last month.
“Right now, I think (schools) are focusing on securing this year’s class and things will kick back up after national signing day,” Bir said.
Bir helped Covington Catholic reach the quarterfinals of the Class 4-A playoffs and passed for 2,429 yards and 28 touchdowns for the Colonels.
